D Wins Gold!

Steven D, coached by Fitness Concepts head coach Ken Mierke, wins world championship

18 year old Steve D from the USA won the 2005 ITU Gamagori junior men's world triathlon championships in Gamagori, Japan. Steven won comfortably by 25 sec from Jonathan Zipf (GER) and Aurelien Raphael (FRA) took the bronze medal.

Ben Yates AUS and James Seear AUS had entered the transition from bike to run at the head of the main group, who had a 35 sec lead over the chase group of 15 cyclists, but it was the superior running ability of the top three athletes, Steven, Zipf and Raphale that led to the win on this 750 m swim, 20 km bike and 5 km run course.

Margie Shapiro First at Worlds!

Margie was the fastest female overall by 3 minutes and 1 second,  the largest winning margin in history.  Between owning Potomac River Running, coaching runners for PRR and triathletes for Fitness Concepts, and raising two toddlers, balancing all those priorities with the training to dominate a world championship is amazing!  Congratulations Margie, Fitness Concepts' second 2005 world champion!
